Specialties
At Functionally Integrative Therapy, I am committed to a holistic approach to wellness. My philosophy is tailored to consider the interplay between mental health, physical health, and the influence of nutrition on both body and mind.
Depression
By creating an environment that fosters self-exploration, my goal is to assist each person in gaining insight into themselves and the life experiences that have brought them to seek support. By incorporating evidence-based practices, we can simultaneously address both the past and present, tackling unproductive thought patterns, lifestyle choices, and examining the underlying causes of depression.
Trauma Work
Whether it's childhood trauma or an event that occurred later in life that impacts current functioning, we will explore how these experiences manifest in daily life and relationships. Trauma disrupts the brain's capacity to assimilate experiences, which results in a fragmented understanding of them. By employing parts work, somatic therapy, or various other approaches that resonate with each individual, we will navigate this healing journey together.
Anxiety
Over the last few decades, Anxiety Disorders have increased in prevalence. Feelings of worry and fear have consumed our lives and we have become fixated on perceived threats. Sorting through our own cognitive distortions, we can more accurately discern which of these threats are worthy of our attention or require reframing.
Couples Counseling
Effective communication is essential for fostering calmness and security in any relationship. Frequently, misunderstandings between partners stem from differing perceptions of the issues they face. Couples therapy aims to facilitate a deeper dialogue about our unique backgrounds, which allow each person to identify how unhelpful patterns of communication have hindered our sense of closeness and connection.
Family Therapy
Every family employs similar mechanisms aimed at fostering stability among its members. Frequently, we draw upon the lessons we acquired from our own family of origin. This reflective journey aids each family member in recognizing their personal patterns which are shaped by their upbringing, and how these patterns influence their current family dynamics, either positively or negatively. Through this exploration, we are able to shift away from the blame game families often find themselves in and towards understanding.
Young Adult Struggles & Problematic Technology Use
In today's world, young adults encounter unprecedented challenges in their lives. Whether it’s transitioning into adulthood through college or the workforce, or grappling with technology that encourages addictive behaviors, many young adults are finding it difficult to cope. Establishing a supportive environment for them to delve into their fears, motivations, and difficulties is crucial now more than ever. Incorporating movement and fostering healthy habits are vital components of this transformative phase.
There are numerous approaches to tackling mental health, yet movement and healthy eating habits are frequently overlooked as valuable avenues for exploration and comprehension. Even when individuals have established healthy routines and practices surrounding movement and nutrition, a well-defined treatment plan should aim to understand how these elements impact each person's life.
